Recently I got into this whole ‘Let’s Play’ business on youtube, starting out with a Gamecube title overlooked by many – Starfox Adventures. A quick thing for those who don’t know: A ‘Let’s Play’ is basically a sort of video walkthrough of a game, where a person will play through a game from start to finish while providing commentary throughout the videos. In theory, it sounds like something no one in their right mind would bother watching, but in reality there’s quite a large community on the internet dedicated to watching and uploading Let’s Plays. It’s an addicting hobby, but I have to question myself whether I’ll continue after my current one as I have a habit of leaving projects unfinished.
Starfox Adventures… is probably one of the easiest games I’ve played to date. The platforming is easy, the bosses are easy, and if you somehow have trouble with a particular puzzle or get lost, there’s a menu option you can use to get help from Slippy. And not just vague hints, either – he’ll pretty much walk you through the game if you listen to him.
No clue as to why I picked this game to LP, other than the fact it had’t been done completely before. But oh well. I’ve been watching a few ‘mock LPs’ by youtube user Retsupurae, too. Their videos basically consist of a few guys getting together on skype and mocking a particularly bad LP. Glad I haven’t been featured yet, at least. Anyway, recently they found a user by the name of navgtr, at http://youtube.com/navgtr. Formally known as ‘Navigatr’, this account plays host to many ‘reviews’ of games which were published in the 90s. Want to know why navgtr.org isn’t up there with Gamespot and IGN? Just watch a review and you’ll realise. It’s sickening to see just how misguided some so-self-claimed ‘gamers’ can be. Plus the reviewer for Navigatr is just plain creepy. Thought XPlay’s reviews were bad? They look gold compared to this shit stain.
Enough about that. In other news… I have some Chemistry write ups to do. No time for gaming or web-surfing now!
